Building and scaling the Design System at Intertrust Group

Intertrust

Overview

Intertrust Group is an international trust and corporate management company with headquarters in The Netherlands. In late 2022, the company had just just been acquired by CSC, the largest corporate domain registrar in the world. With that, came the main challenge: multiple products, multiple teams, and no consistent design approach.

There was already a UI Kit in place, but a single design system was needed to unify all their products across platforms, ensuring a seamless experience for users and a more efficient workflow for designers and developers.

I played a key role in helping to create and scale the design system, working closely with cross-functional teams to define design patterns, components, and documentation that could be leveraged across the app. This system became the backbone for ensuring efficient collaboration and high-quality, consistent interfaces.

Short preview

Since these were all web-based products, the challenge wasn’t just aligning designs, it was also about ensuring that different front-end teams could implement a single, unified system without disrupting their workflows. Some teams were using legacy codebases, while others were moving towards modern frameworks, which meant the design system needed to be both flexible and easy to integrate.
